We just posted last month about some shortcomings of cloud computing and potential alternate solutions for the future. But cloud computing is still being put to many great uses, one of which is in education.
In the Chinese city of Zhuji in the Zhejiang province, thousands of terminal devices have been installed in schools connected to a server housing in the city’s information center. The project is ultimately to replace all the PC’s in the school system with over 30,000 cloud terminal devices. This not only cuts cost and power consumption, but more efficiently allocates resources for online education to the students. Students in different courses and in different locations will have access to all the same material, helping to balance the entire education system. The project has been successful so far and officials plan to continue its implementation.
